Joan McRae DSM, DIR, BA

Joan qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1982. Following on from this she then completed a BA in nursing in 2000.

Having an interest in the benefits of Complementary Therapies, she gained her Diploma in Reflexology through The Complementary Therapy School in 2011. Joan then went onto to study and gain her Diploma in Swedish Massage through Scottish Massage Schools in 2015.

After developing an interest in cancer massage, she obtained certificates in Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage in 2013 and Massage for People Living with Cancer in 2014.

Joan’s area of healthcare focus has been in delivering these therapies to clients affected by cancer through her work with the cancer charity Clan, for which she still works.

Areas of special interest include the effects of stress on the body and the immune system and its contribution to disease.

Her focus of treatment through therapies has been to alleviate stress and anxiety, thereby boosting the immune system and encouraging the body to maintain health.

Joan enjoys walking, shiatsu and learning French! She is a member of the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation (SMTO).
