Remedial/Advanced Remedial Massage

It is never too late to seek help with a painful or chronic condition that is affecting your quality of life.

Remedial Massage

This can relieve typical aches and pains that come through repetitive activities or even long periods of inactivity. Remedial Massage is also effective for many debilitating conditions and their contributing symptoms such as sciatica, frozen shoulder, headaches and whiplash. It can help improve range of motion in joints and alleviate pain and discomfort. Remedial massage focuses on treating injuries, muscular aches and pains and postural imbalances.

When muscles and tendons become damaged or impaired, knotted and tense or immobile, remedial massage provides a healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow.

We use remedial massage techniques to locate tense muscular tissue. Massage of these tense areas help speed up the body’s own repair mechanisms. Key benefits include stimulation to the blood supply and the calming of the peripheral nervous system to ease pain and discomfort and the toning and relaxing of muscles to improve joint mobility.

Advanced Remedial Massage

Advanced Remedial Massage Therapy uses more specific clinical assessments of the joint to identify the problem. From there we use techniques and gentle mobilisations to treat these problems and to address issues involving imbalance of body structure, joints and muscles. ‘Imbalances’ might be caused by injury, illness, emotional upset or stress.

Lori is able to assess each vertebrae specifically to see where the issue is coming from and help restore joint problems which cause back pain and other conditions. By using certain techniques you become actively involved in your treatment.  Many other conditions such as Asthma and other respiratory disorders; IBS; Chronic Fatigue Syndrome may respond well by using these gentle mobilisation techniques on the spine. (Please note, I haven’t said cure – we can’t do that, but some symptoms MAY ease)

Advanced Remedial Massage also uses sensation testing and muscle strength testing to assess for the possibility of any nerve issue. If this is found to be the case we may need to refer you to a specialist for further investigation.

Sometimes remedial massage can be a little uncomfortable, but it should never be painful – ad you should never come away feeling battered and bruised! We always work within your pain threshold. Please remember you are always in charge, so if you’re uncomfortable in anyway please say and we’ll try a different approach!

It is not unusual to feel a little post massage soreness for a day or two after a massage, this is normal and shows that useful work was done – and that the body is healing! Massage is about encouraging the body to heal itself with some help from your therapist.

If you are worried in any way about being sore, or have an important event the next day or two, please do let us know, it really is no problem to work around.
